Authorly Update - Announcing "GP Who"

Yes, if you're a deviant like me, you might have noticed the pun. "General Practitioner" Who... it was like fate, and I found that I could not resist.

And so we have the following announcement...

Due to certain comments on LJ and the advent of a truly awful pun (see note above), I have embarked upon an epic project: a full Doctor Who spinoff series based in the future AU I’ve created for this story. That’s right... Growing Pains is the pilot for a full run of 13 episodes following the adventures of Old!Jack and the Doctor from his timeline... and a surprise third character, too! Stay tuned for excitement, danger, timey-wimey stuff (ding! squawk! bang! eww...), humor, hurt/comfort, character development, mystery, a multi-Doctor story, and a rousing game of spot the series-wide meme! Coming to a computer screen near you (not that near, it’s bad for your eyes!) in the hopefully not too distant future: GP Who!

I do not have a strict posting schedule, since I have no earthly idea how long each episode is going to wind up being. But I do have a rough plan. All episode titles are tentative until such time as I actually post the ep.

GPW1.01: Growing Pains
Hiatus #1: I'm going to do the timestamp meme before GP Who takes over my life. Look for the post in a few days!
GPW1.02: Wolf Pups
GPW1.03: Getting to Know You
GPW1.04: Life Cycle
GPW1.05: Time Lapse, Part I
Hiatus #2: Because I am evil and want to break up the two-parters. Time for me to do a non-GPW story.
GPW1.06: Time Lapse, Part II
GPW1.07: Empathy
GPW1.08: You Can Never Go Home Again
GPW1.09: Ars Memoriae, Part I
Hiatus #3: Time for another non-GPW break for me, and then into the home stretch.
GPW1.10: Ars Memoriae, Part II
GPW1.12: (So as not to give away the series-wide meme, you're going to have to wait to see this title...)
GPW1.13: (So as not to give away the series-wide meme, you're going to have to wait to see this title...)

Yes, it will be very much OT3. No, I don't know if there will be anything more than very, very close friendship happening on screen. (I just don't know if I can write it. Perhaps a guest writer might step in should it become necessary? We shall see.)

If, after reading the end of Growing Pains, you are curious about what Nineteen looks like, just google around for pictures of an actor named David Caruso. Nineteen looks like him, except a bit shorter, a bit older, with hair a little bit curlier. The comparison is completely physical, Nineteen does not act like any of David Caruso's characters or anything like that (I've never even seen the man on screen, just some great photos of him at IMDb).

So... reactions? Accusations of insanity?

Also, nightrider101 told me that it was worth doing, and has agreed to wield the poking stick in the effort of making sure I actually write and post. So thank her! :-)

You're nuts, but I'm looking forward to it. :D

(Also, this weekend I hope to have time to get caught up on "Growing Pains" -- taxes and Life have really eaten my reading-for-fun time lately!! So expect me to start commenting again, soon.) ;)

Looking forward to your comments! :-)

I am crazy, aren't I. But it ought to be a fun ride...

Yay! I look forward to it. And that's quite the ambitious goal! I'll be here, cheering you on :)

I'm going to need a large cheering section. I'm never tried something so... big before. It's making me nervous.

But I'm also really excited about it, for exactly the same reason! :-D

*wiggles eyebrows*

Glad to have you along for the ride! It's going to be long, and hopefully lots of fun. :-)

Also, I just read Hatchling over at the LoM comm (hey, that rhymes!) and I absolutely adore it. It's such a great idea for a fic and I love what you're doing with it! I can't wait to see more.

::pokes you gently with a padded poking stick::

Write more! Please? :-)

I is writing.
In fact, Hatchling is whispering evil plot idea using the Warren, 70s nostlagia and oxfam.
*shakes fists at plunnies*

Sorry it's taken so long to reply to this comment...

No, nothing at all to do with the 80s TV show. Don't get me wrong, I love 80s TV. (MacGyver, anyone? Knight Rider? The A-Team?) But I never even watched Growing Pains. :-P

I'm glad you're interested in the fic, though!

Adalia Zandra

This is adaliazandra's fic journal, which she hadn't planned to use very often. That plan has since been defenestrated in favor of posting fic update notices and rambles about DW and TW.

If you note the spiffy paid-account layout, that's because nightrider101 is simply the most wonderful person ever! :-)

If I seem to have disappeared off the face of the Internet, it's because I probably did. I don't actually *like* suddenly ignoring my LJ friends and leaving my stories hanging, though, so odds are I'll be back eventually.
